The Buffalo Bill Historical Centre was first established in 1917, in Cody, Wyoming.

The museum houses the Plains Indian Museum, the Whitney Gallery of Western Art,  the Cody Firearms Museum and  the Draper Museum of Natural History.

The show was loosely based on the life of William Barclay "Bat" Masterson (November 26, 1853–October 25, 1921) who was a buffalo hunter,
U.S. Marshal, Army scout and sports editor and columnist for the New York Morning Telegraph. He also enjoyed fishing and gambling.
The Bat Masterson television series was shown on NBC from 1958 to 1961.
In its three seasons there were 107 episodes.

Paladin was the dandy, living the high life at the Hotel Carlton in San Francisco,  bad guys underestimated until confronted by the dressed in black avenger.
