Berlin is an incredible city, rebuilt after conflict, displaying hundreds of years of culture.

It has a solid transit system for tourist that connects the western and eastern sides of the city. The city has a tram, bus and train transit system.

If travelling in winter be aware that after a snow fall the streets and footpaths are piled high with the white slush. Snow is cleared from the road but rearly from the footpath with the authorities relying on "grit" to make pedestrian traffic safe.

In winter you need to take into account the early sunsets with daylight gone at 4pm in the afternoons.

If you are interested in museums and galleries, this is your city, as there are over 170 awaiting your arrival. You need to book your museum entry times however there are tickets that gain entry to more than one museum. Some musuems have strict security.

While German is the national language many people are willing to help if you only have English.

The Berlin Zoo is fantastic, however winter might not be the best time to see all the animals as they are in their winter enclosurers and are hard to photograph.
